The 11th DSOBS Inter House Golf will be held on 20th Sept 2008 at Golden Greens, Gurgaon and the Prize Distribution / Dinner will be held on 21st Sept 2008 at ITC Maurya Hotel, New Delhi at 8.30 P.M.

LATEST UPDATE ON VICE PRESIDENT ELECTION

The deadline for applications and nominations for the vacancy of the position of the VP, DSOBS, was 13 August 2008, and we have received two applications / nominations for the vacancy of the position of the VP, DSOBS. These are Kishore Lahiri (batch of 1974) and Gurmeet Singh (batch of 1982). Both have submitted their respective CV’s and Vision Statements. (As per annexures)

Out of the total of 112 representatives in both categories combined, 102 had responded. Of these 63 had nominated Kishore Lahiri and 39 had nominated Gurmeet Singh. (As per annexure)

BOMBAY OLD BOYS GET TOGETHER – 6 SEPT 2008

The Bombay old boys are having a get together in South Bombay on 6 Sept 2008 at 830pm where the Board of Governors will be in attendance.

Venue will be in South Bombay and will be intimated to those who RSVP to rao@khandelwalindia.com

Please indicate in your email whether you will be accompanied by your spouse or significant other.

Please also encourage all Doscos in Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat to try and make it. They too can respond to the same email address.

For those who do not have access to email, please ask any friend to RSVP on your behalf.

Old Boys Hockey games in Delhi

stick.jpgFor the past several weeks a group of old boys have been meeting in Delhi to play field hockey on Sunday evenings. They are recruiting more players from the old boy's community in Delhi. Most of the games are held at Siri Fort Sports Complex. If you are interested in playing, get in touch with Kunal Sharma at kunal473@hotmail.com.

DSOBS Event in Mumbai

A DSOBS dinner is being held in Mumbai on December 6th, 2008. Interested doscos should give positive affirmations to rao@khandelwalindia.com He will send out the location nearer the time. This drinks and dinner function will be in South Bombay.

India gets its first individual Olympics gold medal

bindra3.jpgIndian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has lavished praise on Abhinav Bindra, the country's first individual Olympic gold medallist. Mr Singh said that Bindra's achievement- he claimed the men's 10m air rifle shooting title - was a "golden performance". The Indian President, Pratibha Patil, has also lauded Bindra's feat. India, winners of eight hockey gold medals, had never won an individual Olympic title before Bindra's success. Read the BBC story for more information. Bindra was in Doon between 1993 and 1995.

Kyon Toone Dilko Toda muic album produced by Raman Kapoor

Raman Kapoor 69-J Class of 63 produced a music album which was launched recently in the capital and is being distributed worldwide by reknowned Music Co. T-Series. The name of the album is "Kyon Toone Dilko Toda". "Sixty going on 17" was the caption on an article by Indian Express. You can order a copy at T-Series webstore.

They are also available at T-Series Shop No.162, Palika Bazar, Connaught Place, New Delhi. Raman"s rather melodious songs (Nine songs-some romantic, some lively, fun numbers) have been designed & decorated by Bollywood Music Director Nikhil as well as Music Directors Satish Sharma and Satish Babbar the Well-known Ghazal singer. The launch was a great success and was extremely well covered by media; lots of publicity and a video clip of the title song was aired on several music channels. Raman has tightened his laces and is on a new musical journey which has been his passion since school days. Most of his contemporaries will recollect his school days favourites like Mera naam Chin Chin Chu, Mera naam Abdul Rehman etc. Raman is already preparing a new album with fun packed lyrics and rocking music; this is proposed to be realeased by end Sept. 08. His favourite reply to all those who ask him about his starting a new career at this age, "Age is a question of mind over matter, if you dont mind it doesnt matter". Way to go Raman. The fraternity is proud of you.
