I would like to summarise the activities of the various Committees headed by the respective Committee Chairmen: A.The Archives Project is chaired by Ajay Swaroop and assisted by Gautam Thadani both representing the Class of 1975. This is a very exciting project that is presently underway in School. The purpose of this project is to identify, sort and scientifically archive documents, photographs and records of the school. It is likely to be completed by the year 2000. B.The Bursary Sub Committee is chaired by Gurbir Man Singh. The DSOBS disbursed financial aid of Rs. 1,74,000 this year. As a matter of recent tradition the Classes celebrating their Silver and Golden Jubilee have contributed towards this fund. I hope that this practice continues in the years to come; C.The Computerisation of the Library project is chaired by Kishore Lahiri on behalf of the Class of '74. The Class of 74 has donated a State of the Art computer system to the Doon School Library this year; D.The Credit Card Sub Committee is chaired by the Vice President Ajay Shriram. As you are we have a successful Affinity Card Programme with The Standard Chartered Bank for a Visa card and Citibank for a Diners Club Card. At present we have 560 Standard Chartered Visa cardholders and 78 Citibank Diners Club cardholders, a total of 638. Of this total of 638, only 97 cardholders are participating in the voluntary contribution scheme of Rs. 250 per month. May I urge more members to participate both in the Affinity Card Programme as well as the Rs. 250 per month voluntary contribution scheme as this would be of great assistance to the Society in funding its activities; E.The DOSCO Club project has been mooted for several years and Anoop Bishnoi is chairing this sub committee. He is actively searching for a suitable location that would be easily accessible from South Delhi for this purpose. F.The DSOBS Register requires constant updating and is being done under the joint chairmanship of Ajai Singh and Surendra Kandhari; G.The DSOBS Secretariat has been functioning for the past several years out of the office of Mr. Arun Bharatram. With the greatly increased activities it has been felt that a larger and permanent home for the Society be established. A target to collect a corpus of Rs. 1 crore has been set for this purpose. 50 lacs would be required for the real estate and a corpus of 50 lacs would yield us just enough revenue to cover the running expenses of the Society. Gurbir Man Singh chairs the Sub Committee for locating suitable real estate for this purpose; H.The official DSOBS Website was launched at the address of dsobs.org under the chairmanship of Hemant Sharma. We need the assistance of young DOSCOs to contribute some of their time in assisting Hemant in making this site more dynamic, interactive and eventually a revenue generating proposition for the DSOBS; I.The Education and Training Sub Committee is chaired by Nikhel Kochhar. Gen. Gurbir Man Singh and Mr. Harish Suri of Citibank delivered talks in School. Mr. K.K. Lahiri is scheduled to speak to the boys in school on the Law Profession and his wife Mrs. Lahiri will address the senior boys on choosing the correct combinations of subjects in college. Dr. Sanjeev Marya is scheduled to visit the school and lecture the boys on the Medical Profession; J.The Fund Raising Sub Committee is chaired by Samir Modi who is planning a Greening of the Doon Project as well as a Cultural Event in March 2000 to raise funds for the Society as well as for the School; K.The Job Placement Sub Committee is chaired by Lalit Nirula who is in constant touch with Old Boys requiring job placement; L.The Memorabelia Sub Committee is chaired by Nitan Kapoor. At present Dosco Memorabilia is available at the School store as well as from Nitan Kapoor's office in Noida; M.The Overseas Trust Sub Committee chaired by Pashupati Advani has been active in trying to establish trusts in the USA and UK to collect funds for the Society; N.The River Rafting Sub Committee is chaired by Anoop Bishnoi who is planning a river rafting and camping event next Spring; O.The Rosebowl Sub Committee is chaired by Samir Kuckreja who has done as excellent job in producing this quality publication. This year we have published 3 issues of the Rosebowl;
