Class of 1959 - 40th Reunion
We had the 40th Reunion of the Class of 1959 in October 1999. We first had a Dinner on Friday, 29th October, 1999. When there was a great turn out as with 27 classmates coming, (alongwith 12 spouses/partners), this was about 50% of our class. Many people had not met each other for a long time (some since leaving school) and everybody enjoyed the evening. We were delighted to have Mr. Kunzru, our old Biology teacher with us and the people who attended were Arya Shah, Arun and Tara Bakshi, Ashok and Hema Mehra, Baldev Singh, D.P.N. Singh, Dhruv and Rai Sawhney, Gurnam Singh and Mohini Gujral, Gajbir and Indu Singh, Inderjit Badhwar, Askari and Syeda Imam, Pushpinder and Deepak Chopra, Peter Paintal, Ravi Bagai, Romi Chopra, Romesh and Sunita Kohli, Rajinder Pal Singh, Ranjit and Monica Khubchand, Ravindra Jain, Ravi Katari, Sudhir Sharma, Seshadri and Sudha Ratnam, Shatrujit Dev, Umesh Sahai, Vikram Kapoor and Lalit and Manju Nirula.

The award for the person who travelled the furthest should go to Rajinder Pal Singh (Conky) who had traveled from California. The runners up award would go to Umesh Sahai, who came from Jersey (Channel Islands, U.K.). We also had the pleasure of having with us Shatrujit Singh (from Mumbai), Ravi Katari (from Chennai) and Ravi Bagai (who has shifted to Delhi), besides other classmates from states around Delhi

Most of us also went to Pushi Chopra’s home on Sunday, 31st October, 1999 morning for a delightful mellow Beer and Kabab session.

The weekend went off well and our next get together is now planned for end of 2009 (by which time we all would have retired, hopefully!)

A Tribute to the Spirit of Dosco

K.S. Mitra, class of 1971 (ex 136-K) had a serious health problem and needed an immediate Open Heart Surgery. His appeal to Vellayan for financial assistance was circulated to the Old Boys in Tamil Nadu as well as to Mitra’s batchmates.

The response was overwhelming and a sum of approximately Rs. 1.42 lakhs was collected within 15 days and Mitra was able to undergo a very successful operation at Malar Hospital on 14th March. He has recovered well and resumed his office work. Mitra‘s batchmates are tremendously supportive of him with Vikash Varma and Jagdeep Rangar initiating the process of fund collection. The Tamil Nadu chapter too contributed their mite. The list of donors is give below:
