On Saturday, 24th June, 2000 the sixth Bawa Singh Memorial Golf Tournament was held at the Hatfield Country Club in Hertfordshire, England. The hard work and dedication from the organisers, Nitan Kapoor and Harash (Bitlu) Sethi in particular was evident from the way the day was planned from start to finish. The tournament was very well attended - 40 golfers, 11 of whom were Doscos - Deepak Dhawan, Anil Sabharwal, Tiny Chowdhry, Amreshwar Seth, Rati Puri, Pratap Dube, Vijay Thapar, Nitan Kapoor, Anirudh Chowdhry, Sharad Dev Datt and Viraj Puri. The dinner was even better attended with a group of close to a 100. We all had one thing in common - our fond memories of Vicky. He was sorely missed but in our opinion there is no better way of remembering Vicky than doing what he enjoyed doing the most - starting off the day playing golf with his friends and ending it making merry with them! And that is what this day is all about, remembering a very special friend.

Rahul Yadav from Dubai was the winner, Karan Sethi (Harash (Bitlu) Sethis son) the runners up and Deepak Dhawan, one of Vickys closet friends and one of the sponsors of the day was in third place. Vikramjit Singh from Delhi had the longest drive, which did not surprise anyone and B.N. Patel won the prize for ball nearest to the pin. Sharad Dev Datt won the "Wooden Spoon".We were all delighted that both Manju and Siya Bawa were with us through the day, though unfortunately neither Uday not Jai could make it this year. It was the first time they had both not attended the event and we all certainly missed sharing the day with them. Siya was the official photographer for the event and Manju graciously gave away the prizes. There were two special prizes given by Manju this year, one for Organisation to Nitan Kapoor and the other for Special Effort to Pratap Dube, both very well deserved indeed.

Later in the evening everyone met at the George Pub in London - needless to say one of Vickys favourite watering holes. The hospitality was superb, the drinks were flowing and the food catered by Gaylord Restaurant was excellent. On behalf of everyone we would like to thank the sponsors of the event, Nitan Kapoor, Deepak Dhawan, Vijay Thapar, Tiny Chowdhry, Anil Sabharwal, Pratap Dube, Sanjiv Ghai, Harash Sethi who were all present and Dimpy Mehra & Inni Bawa who unfortunately could not be there. Thank you all for a day that did Vicky proud. He would have enjoyed every moment of it - the golf, the company, the food, the drink. In fact his spirit was so alive that evening that one could almost picture him standing at the bar, head cocked to one side with that characteristic smile which everyone remembers so well! We all miss you Vicky!
