EXCERPTS FROM A LETTER SENT BY MR. JOHN MASON TO ALL I.P.S.S. MEMBERS

Old Boys have contributed generously to School development. The Class of ‘74 set up our computerised Library administration system, which has turned the daunting exercise of stock taking into a manageable chore. In a second round of benevolence they have contributed Rs. 2.60 lacs to date, towards scholarships for the children of our service staff. By a strange and touching coincidence, former Headmaster, Christopher Miller, who died in England in December last year, left a bequest of £ 600 (Rs 40,000/- approximately) to be used in a corpus for scholarships for the children of our service staff.

The Class of ’75 started preparation for their Silver Jubilee gift eighteen months ago and, this Founder’s Day, will proudly hand over a computerised Archives Section to the school. In the last year the DSOBS contributed Rs. 1.26 lacs in scholarships and Rs. 2.89 lacs to the Doon School Scholarship Fund.

BURSARIES

The Society will entertain applications for Bursaries, for sons of Old Boys studying at the Doon School, at the end of the year.

Members wishing to apply for such Bursaries are reminded to apply to the Honourary Secretary of the Society before 31st December 2000. The application is required to be supported by the last Income Tax return alongwith details of the occupations of the member and spouse and their present income.
